Jon Richardson has decided to quit comedy after realising he prefers a normal life. He has accepted a teaching job, a career he pondered since his teenage years. This decision comes shortly after his divorce from Lucy Beaumont, and he is now focused on this new chapter in his life.

Jon Richardson has decided to hang up his comedy boots! After taking a break, the funnyman realised he was far more content enjoying life away from the spotlight and is trading in his microphone for a chalkboard. Gone are the days of cracking jokes, as he embraces a considerably more normal life.

The Celebrity Gogglebox star, now 42, candidly shared his news on Instagram while strolling outdoors, looking cosier than a cat in a hammock. He jokingly expressed why he doesn’t usually post updates: “because I don’t think anyone cares.” However, he found this news too juicy to keep under wraps.

It seems the light bulb moment stemmed from a diary entry he unearthed from 1997. Back when he was just 14, Jon dreamt of being a stand-up comedian but thought he might end up as a teacher – and now he’s trading gigs for the classroom! He effervescently exclaimed that while comedy has been marvellous, he yearns to try his hand at plan B: teaching.

In a plot twist that would make even a soap opera blush, Jon revealed he’s already secured a teaching job! He’s been doing some training and promises to update fans on his new adventures, saying, “I’ll keep you posted.” He’s been quite busy, as this isn’t his only life upheaval.

Jon’s personal life has also taken a turn, having announced his divorce from wife Lucy Beaumont last April. Married since 2015 and sharing an eight-year-old daughter, Elsie, they were once the power couple, practically stealing the show in their series, Meet The Richardsons.

Their split was announced with a shared statement, urging for privacy for their daughter during this challenging time. Post-divorce, things have settled, as Jon made a generous payout of £1.625 million to Lucy after their joint fortune of £6 million took an unexpected nosedive. Watch out, teaching world! Jon Richardson is coming to a classroom near you!

In an unexpected twist, Jon Richardson, a cherished figure in the comedy world, is retiring his mic to embrace a future as a teacher. After reflecting on his youthful aspirations, he’s taken drastic steps following his recent divorce from Lucy Beaumont. With a hefty payout behind him and a newfound teaching role, the star is swapping stand-up laughs for educational enlightenment. It seems like Jon’s new motto is: “Why tell jokes when you can educate?”
