In a surprising turn of events, Brittany Renner, the star of “Basketball Wives,” has announced her divorce from rapper Kevin Gates after just a whirlwind 52 days of matrimony. The announcement was made on Saturday via Los Angeles’ REAL 92.3 LA radio. Renner, 33, revealed that they tied the knot on April 6 and called it quits by May 28. Yeah, that was quite the speedy romance, wasn’t it?

Renner shed some light on the swift separation, specifically mentioning the Islamic practice of a 90-day waiting period following marriage. “There’s a 90 day waiting period in Islam, where you have 90 days to see if you’re pregnant because then he would be responsible. But also in those 90 days, it’s for recommendation because the law wants you to stay married,” she explained. She noted that during this period, fancying anyone else is strictly off the table.

“Islam has made my life easier,” she stated while unpacking her experience. “Honestly, I don’t think anybody gets married to avoid being married. So this is a nice 90-day reset, just focusing on myself.” Talk about self-care and self-love, right?

Speaking candidly about her feelings for the 39-year-old rapper, she asserted she had no shame in having followed her heart in their short-lived romance. “A lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, it’s people just don’t give it their all,” Renner reflected. “When you do, you’re at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent.” Sometimes you gotta put your whole self into it, even if it doesn’t last.

Despite the rapid end, she maintained a positive outlook, expressing, “I don’t feel like it’s a sucky situation because what is meant to be is always going to be.” Now that’s a healthy perspective!

Just weeks before the split, she was singing Gates’ praises at the “Basketball Wives” Season 12 premiere. “I’m with the person that I quite literally dreamed of,” she gushed. Their admiration for each other seemed palpable with her adding how surreal it felt to wake up next to him.

Meanwhile, Gates chimed in with a message about living in the moment, claiming, “When we get too far ahead, we don’t live in the now and have fun in the now.” Yet, it seems the now has taken a sharp detour!

For those who might not know, Renner is also the ex of Dallas Mavericks’ P.J. Washington and shares a four-year-old son with him. She made her debut in Season 11 of “Basketball Wives” this year. Who’s ready for the next chapter?
