Megan Forte Clarke Proclaims Herself The Queen Of Being Ghosted On Love Island

Megan Forte Clarke has quickly become a favourite on Love Island. The 24-year-old Dubliner is coupled with Tommy Bradley, sharing some Italian roots. Before entering the show, she outlined her dating preferences and mutual connections in the industry that might help her navigate her new fame. Megan describes herself humorously as the ‘queen of being ghosted’ and has a lot of confidence going into this experience.
Megan Forte Clarke just made her debut on Love Island, and it seems the Dubliner is already on the fast track to fan favourite status. Partnered up with Tommy Bradley, an English landscape gardener, they actually have some Italian heritage in common—how romantic!
So far, everything on their “coupling” looks like smooth sailing, but, of course, it’s early days in this rollercoaster of a dating show. The series, where singles dubbed “islanders” are living the high life in a swanky villa, will last roughly eight weeks. Viewers get to vote on their favourite couples, and the lucky winners can walk away with a lovely cash prize, which of course, is always a nice bonus.
Before stepping foot onto that sun-soaked Spanish villa, Forte Clarke, hailing from Finglas, was pretty clear about what she wants in a man. “I tend to go for personality over looks, which has not done me very well in the past, but if I was to narrow down a type, I love a Timothee Chalamet-esque kind of vibe,” she shared with a wink. And just to keep it interesting: “I do love a ginger as well, but I think that’s the Irish in me.”
Now just 24, Megan has relocated to Brighton, where she works as an energy broker by day and harbours dreams of becoming a big-time actor by night. She’s got some musical theatre training under her belt and even performed in panto—so who knows? She might just give us some serious entertainment this season! Fans are already comparing her to the fabulous Maura Higgins, who strutted her stuff on Love Island UK in 2019 and has since built a successful career in television. Will Megan follow in those footsteps? It seems likely!
Megan didn’t shy away from admitting her excitement about those comparisons. “Unreal! I’m like, yes, thank you. It’s the biggest compliment ever, and a big boost,” she said, clearly flattered. As for whether she’s got that same spunky personality as Higgins, Forte Clarke confidently noted, “Definitely. I am my mother’s daughter in that way.”
And speaking of her mum, Alison, she seems to be on cloud nine about her daughter being on the show. “She loves it. She loves Love Island, so she is buzzing with it.” That’s what we like to hear—supportive mums in the audience, cheering you on!
In a bit of self-deprecation, Megan described herself as a modern-day Bridget Jones, admitting, “I am the queen of being ghosted, so I feel in that sense I would compare myself to her.” Oof, that hits home for many of us, doesn’t it?
Reflecting on why she signed up for Love Island, Megan had a lot to say about the dating apps: “It’s just a lot, the whole Hinge and Tinder [online dating process]. It’s just awkward meeting up and it never goes well – for me anyway.” Who hasn’t hit a snag while ‘swiping right’? But she’s feeling optimistic about her villa prospects, “I decided this was right for me, because you can’t ghost me while I’m in the villa, because I’ll be in the kitchen!”
Despite the whirlwind fame, Megan has her mates in the industry to help guide her through it. “I’m friends with Harriett [Blackmore] from last season. She’s prepared me, and she’s told me what to pack and stuff. I feel like that has been a big help having her.” Talk about a leg up!
The Dubliner hopes that her stage persona will play in her favour as she gets to know her fellow islanders. “I feel it puts me in a position where I’m used to meeting new people a lot, but in terms of confidence, I feel like I’ve been this way since I came out of the womb. It’s a blessing and a curse – I’ll yap to anyone.”
So, there you have it. Megan is ready to make her mark on Love Island and who knows, we might just see her charm and wit win over the viewers and maybe even a special someone in the villa!
Megan Forte Clarke, a vibrant Dubliner, has stepped into the Love Island spotlight, capturing fans’ hearts with her spirited personality. With a savvy understanding of the dating scene and her aspirations as an actor, she aims to navigate the villa dynamics successfully. Her unique blend of Irish charm, fierce independence, and relatable dating woes has set the stage for what could be an unforgettable season. Will she find love or merely more ghosting? Only time will tell!
