Rod Stewart Celebrates 200th Show in Vegas Despite Health Struggles

Rod Stewart celebrated his 200th Las Vegas show after overcoming health issues. His latest residency at Caesars Palace features classic hits and anecdotes. Despite this milestone, he still trails behind Elvis and Barry Manilow’s record show counts.
Sir Rod Stewart, the iconic rock star, has recently made waves with a bittersweet return to Las Vegas. Marking a monumental milestone, he performed his 200th show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace despite having to cancel previous performances due to a nasty bout of strep throat. Oh, the price of rock ‘n’ roll fame, right? He was supposed to hit this landmark back in August 2024, but health was a little less than cooperative.
During the celebration, the 80-year-old was presented with a shiny gold plaque shaped like a record by Sean McBurney, the Regional President of Caesars Entertainment. To really kick off the party, two dazzling Las Vegas showgirls strutted out with a tray of his very own Wolfie’s Whisky, prompting Rod himself to have a shot—all the while broadcasting pure joy. He later shared his excitement on Instagram, exclaiming, “Wow! My 200th Las Vegas residency show at @colosseumatcp —absolutely incredible! What a ride it’s been!” Just classic Rod, isn’t it?
Rod’s latest show, dubbed the Encore Shows, is running until June 8, and it’s promising to be a classic. Fans of the raspy-voiced wonder could expect a 100-minute set filled with crowd favourites like “Forever Young” and “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?”—because who doesn’t want to groove to that? He’s even throwing in some swing tracks and covers, shaking things up from his previous residency.
At his opening night, Rod was a bit jittery at first, admitting to the crowd, “I’m a bit nervous.” A bit of nerves for a superstar?! But 15 minutes later, he was all self-assured, confidently declaring, “Now I know what I’m doing.” Classic Rod.
During one of his lively performances, he also shared stories about his hits “Maggie May” and “You Wear It Well”. In a humorous twist, he recounted how the record label urged him for a number one song like the former, leading to the creation of the latter. “…they said, ‘Can you write us a No. 1 like Maggie May? So I wrote Wear it Well but people love it. You loved it. I loved it,’” he laughed. He really knows how to keep the crowd engaged, doesn’t he?
While Rod’s 200 shows are commendable, he’s got a mountain to climb if he wants to catch up with the legendary Elvis Presley, who performed a whopping 636 shows in the city. Not to mention Barry Manilow, who has recently upped the ante with his 637th show at the Westgate. With his ongoing residency, Barry’s on track for a sensational 700 shows. Now that’s a big hill to climb!
Rod Stewart has triumphed with his 200th Las Vegas show despite recent health hiccups. Celebrating with a gold plaque and his own whisky, he entertained fans with classics and a few amusing stories. While he’s made remarkable strides, he’s still a fair way from the records of Elvis and Barry Manilow. So, here’s hoping he takes the stage for many more shows!
