During the episode aired on June 17, Pat kicked things off with a classic knock-knock joke directed at Vanna. After a playful exchange, he delivered the punchline: “You’ve already forgotten! It’s really sad!” For Sajak, it’s been a long, illustrious run, spending more than 40 years hosting Wheel of Fortune, that includes over three decades next to White. Those two have quite the history, as he originally replaced Chuck Woolery back in 1981, with Vanna stepping in just a year later. So, it’s not surprising that she felt somewhat anxious about his absence.

Despite a rocky transition with Ryan at first—allegedly feeling their chemistry was a bit stiff—Vanna now seems to have found her footing, even stating on CBS Sunday Morning, “I think our chemistry is good.” She does, however, make sure to note that her connection with Pat still endures; they remain friends and she sees him regularly.
